Monday, 18 September from 12:30 to 1:30, follow the discussion live moderated by Dominique Reynié with Teresa Freixes, Professor of Constitutional Law at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Professor Jean Monnet ad personam and President of Concordia Civica and Marti Anglada, Delegate of the Government of Catalonia in France.
The independence president of the region of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, and the Catalan independentists will hold a referendum on the independence of Catalonia on 1 October. Madrid declared the referendum “illegal”. What can we think of such a referendum? Should we wish independence for Catalonia? What are the possible effects of this referendum on other European countries and on the European Union itself?
The organisation of this referendum is an important event. It sheds light not only on the state of Europe, but also on the state of democracy.
The Fondation pour l’innovation politique believes that it is necessary to debate this topic.
That is why it is organising a discussion between Marti Anglada, in favor of the referendum, and independence and Teresa Freixes, against the referendum and independence, on 18 Monday, September 2017, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.
